Crafting

Various kiln-dried timbers are used to give strength, shape and longevity.

Once carved, the body is then coated in the traditional manner to give a smooth finish and protect the timber.

After standing for a period of time to allow the coating to completely cure, the chosen colour is applied followed by a top coat of varnish. The flowing mane and tail are of real horsehair, colour to choice.

The eyes are glass and are firmly fixed with wire and glue.

All the tack, whether removable or not, is made from high quality leather and tailored to fit each individual horse.

The stands are normally of Pine or Douglas Fir. Hardwood stands are also available if requested at time of order. These are normally polished wood but will be painted any colour, if requested. Please phone for extra charge.

Each horse before leaving us is numbered, photographed and recorded.
